Michael Trahan
Executive Director Michael Trahan succeeds SolarOne® Solutions President and CEO Moneer Azzam who, as Solar Connecticut’s founding executive director, successfully guided the group during its first two years of existence including its designation as a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit.
Since 2003, Trahan has worked in the clean energy sector handling communications and marketing roles for various clean energy project developers, manufacturers, and state government agencies working in the solar, wind, landfill gas-to-energy, biomass, emissions reduction, energy efficiency, microturbine, and fuel cell power industries.
Previously, Trahan was a senior communications director at the Connecticut General Assembly, a spokesman for gubernatorial and presidential campaigns, a director of public relations at several leading marketing firms across Connecticut and a commercial radio broadcaster.
Moneer Azzam
Moneer Azzam serves as the executive director of Solar Connecticut, Inc. Azzam is the founder of SolarOne® Solutions, and one of the founders and current board members of the Solar Energy Business Association of New England (SEBANE). He is the former Secretary of the Photovoltaic Energy Systems Technical Committee for the International Electronics Commission (IEC). Mr. Azzam holds two patents and a pending patent in PV power systems and PV solid-state lighting. Mr. Azzam has incorporated both photovoltaic and solar thermal systems into his home.
Charles Moret
Charles Moret directs marketing and communications for Connecticut Innovations. This includes broadening the CCEF’s presence throughout the state; communicating information about its activities to stakeholders; maintaining relationships with a wide variety of organizations; and formulating and implementing outreach programs, workshops and conferences. He holds a bachelor's degree in marketing from Pace University and a master’s of business administration in finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
John Roundtree
Mr. Rountree is an architect and principle of Rountree Architects, based in Westport, CT, which specializes in the design of energy efficient, environmentally sound buildings that use non-polluting, renewable energy technologies. In 2003 he along with his friend and colleague, Mark Pizzi, received grants from the US Department of Energy and the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund to promote the use of Solar Photovoltaics in Fairfield County.
Timothy Rourke
Timothy Rourke is a Mechanical/Materials Engineer currently working in the plastics industry. He is the Connecticut Coordinator for the National Solar Tour / Green Buildings Open House. In addition, Tim sits on the Board of People's Action for Clean Energy and is active in their promotion of solar and renewable energy.
Ron French
Ron French has a BA in Economics from the University of Vermont and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School, along with 27 years of corporate management experience. Ron's noteworthy strategic planning, business development and fiscal management skills won him senior executive positions at several Fortune 500 companies such as Apple Computer, MCI Tele-communications, Merck-Medco, Metromedia Fiber Network, and WebMD. Ron is now applying the best-in-class business practices he helped shape at those companies, to Solar Works, as its President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO). He is following his passion to influence environmental change by developing the renewable energy marketplace. Today, Ron has cultivated strategic alliances with premier solar manufacturers to assure a total quality management offering to all Solar Works clients. Product excellence, sound management practice, delivering customer value and exceeding expectations are now the guiding principals of Solar Works, Inc. under Ron's management. Ron currently serves as a board member for SEBANE, the Solar Energy Business Association of New England.
